The Holsteiners are particularly gifted show jumpers. Within a few days of their birth, the foals jump over low obstacles with great pleasure and a lot of energy. But the real training doesn't start until they are 2 to 3 years old. By the time the horse is 5 to 6 years old, it has developed enough muscle mass to be able to support the rider's weight when jumping over the hurdles.
