White-tailed deer are extremely shy animals. When startled, their tails go back and forth. If a predator is nearby, their tail goes up. Then you can see the white fur to which they owe their name. The biggest enemies of white-tailed deer are wolves, coyotes, cougars, bears, alligators and jaguars.
