Often Pintos are confused with the Paint Horses because they are very similar. But the Paint Horses are a separate breed while the Pintos are bred just for their colors. The nice color patterns of the coat can therefore occur in every breed. The animals are then referred to as Arabian Pintos or Tinker Pintos. There are even Pintaloosas, a cross between Pintos and Appaloosas. The rule of thumb is that, if you're not sure what breed a spotted horse belongs to, you can safely say it's a Pinto. Then at least you're good.
