Pandas start small. Very small even. At birth, they weigh only about 100 grams. That's as much as a big slab of chocolate or a small cup of yogurt. Apart from the kangaroos, there is no other animal that has such small cubs. After four weeks, the little ones get their typical black and white fur. After 6 to 8 weeks they open their eyes for the first time. The extremely playful young animals stay with the mother for about two years. The mother likes to roll the little ones back and forth, or frolic with them affectionately.
